Ephedra is an herbal product which is being obtained from the plants of Ephedra family. Ephedra was initially found to be a medicine for treating asthma, common cold and many diseases related to the skin. So the Ephedra was used in nearly all the medicines that are produced for treating those diseases. Though the Ephedra does not prove to be a bad medicine, it caused several side-effects to the people who used it regularly. Apart from these the number of people’s death was caused due to the Ephedra usage and this made a terrible impact over the using of the Ephedra. Then the researcher started analyzing the Ephedra seriously and found out that the chemical ephedrine is the one which caused death in the people who used Ephedra. After the proof obtained from the researchers the United States government then banned the usage of the Ephedra based dietary supplements. This initially led to heavy loss of certain companies which filed a case against the ban. But the strong proof submitted by the researchers based on the death of several people by using Ephedra made the ban to stand high.
